On June 22, 2024, the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Ball, hosted by the Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in Prince William County, VA, celebrated a night of achievement and generosity. Through the chapter’s foundation, the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, a total of $73,000 in scholarships was awarded to 17 deserving students, setting them on a path toward success in higher education.
These scholarships will help propel students toward their academic dreams at some of the nation’s most prestigious universities, including Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, Purdue University, Howard University, Shenandoah University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Virginia, Cornell University, Spelman College, North Carolina A&T State University, and Norfolk State University. The recipients, each chosen for their dedication to academic excellence and community involvement, represent the brightest future leaders of tomorrow.
The Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, named in honor of a trailblazer and mentor, continues to exemplify its commitment to fostering educational opportunities for students in our community. By providing financial support to these young scholars, the foundation helps ensure that the next generation is equipped with the resources they need to achieve their full potential.
The scholarship ball was not only a night of celebration but also a reminder of the power of community and the importance of investing in education. As the 17 students embark on their college journeys, the Xi Alpha Lambda Chapter, through the Ira Dorsey Scholarship Endowment Fund, is proud to stand by them, supporting their aspirations and honoring the legacy of academic excellence.
We look forward to witnessing the accomplishments of these remarkable scholars and continuing to support future generations in their pursuit of higher education.
